"Thick" coatings (from 100 nm up to several microns) are largely employed on surfaces to reduce the wear and the friction coefficient, to increase or decrease the wettability, for decorative purposes and much more.
The characterisation of their topographic and/or mechanical properties is essential for the optimisation of the deposition process and the improvement of the funcionalities of the deposit.
